Objects could be sculptures, models, or furniture. They are too small to inhabit fully, but large enough that we encounter them face to face. The scale is important; it is something that we can touch and with which we can interact. Unlike Architecture, objects are not bound to singular sites. They can be picked up and moved. The design is then informed by more fundamental variables: the way it meets the ground, they way it interacts with our body, and other prearranged functions.
Like Architecture, Objects must be made of something physical, and the material choice ought to further emphasis the inherent qualities of the design. They can be made by one individual. After working on complex projects with many contributors, working at the scale of the Object in which everything can be orchestrated by one person is very satisfying. It can be designed with pencil and paper, made with simple tools, and finished with the same personal care.
